The VFC320SM is a voltage-to-frequency and frequency-to-voltage converter. It provides a simple low cost method of converting analog signals into digital pulses. The digital output of the VFC320SM is an open collector and the digital pulse train repetition rate is proportional to the amplitude of the analog input voltage. Output pulses are compatible with TTL, and CMOS logic families. The applications of the VFC320SM include: (1)inexpensive a/d and d/a converter; (2)digital panel meters; (3)two-wire digital transmission with noise immunity; (4)fm mod/demod of transducer signals; (5)precision long term integrator; (6)high resolution optical link for isolation; (7)ac line frequency monitor; (8)motor speed monitor and control.
